NEWGRANGE: Sacred Site that offers us Light

Our ancestors can communicate with us in many forms. Right now they are doing just that throughout this Earth via the power of our ancient sacred sites.

This feature takes you on a journey to County Meath, Ireland to spend time with the energy of ‘Newgrange’ and learn what it has to teach us; to shed light upon the times that we face, right now, when so many groups are turning inward, when societies are dividing and focusing on fears rather than uniting in our hopes for a brighter future…

Hear what the past can tell us today. Buried deep below an ancient long barrow is the tomb of the ancestors. These were no ordinary ancestors, but extra-ordinary beings who fought and defended the great green lands of the Emerald Isle, ensuring the freedom and beginning for the human race as we know it now.  Legend has it a great battle of other worlds occurred when upon dark clouds the tribes from the four corners arrived. Imagine a scene of giants, of vengeful gods battling in a bid to rule and conquer, to take and destroy the native people of the great goddess Dana. They were known as the Shining Ones, believed to be gifted with supernatural powers. For their safety and protection Dana had them taken underground by the Sidhe, the Faery folk, and transformed into ‘Leprechauns’. During the great battles the world that existed was destroyed and a new one was built, however what was covered up is only to mask the truth of what lies beneath. The time has come in our world now to allow the light of truth to shine through us…wear the crown that lies amongst the bones of the ancestors who whisper of their return.

How this site relates to our present day. The monolithic stoned entrance at Newgrange is completely engraved with symbols of single spirals and the three interlocked spiral symbol of the Triskelion (characteristic historical of the Celtic and Iron Age). The spiral is said to represent the triple goddess (Maiden, Mother, Crone), of Earth, Sea and Sky and radiates three equal spirals to its centre. Its origin is thought to be inspired by the heavens; a reflection of the images. Could they, themselves have symbolized portals to other worlds. Here too is a chamber, purposefully built as a place of worship, of ceremony, of connecting to the skies. Through understanding and wisdom – in other words by communicating right now rather that pointing fingers and turning a blind eye or deaf ear, we have the ability to shed light on the divisions; on the root causes of the upset, unrest and inequalities of our world and choose to find many ways to exist, to have place and space for all to follow their paths rather than bulldozing over and through others in one single direction, along which only a few may journey.

What can be done and how things could manifest. It is said that Angus, the Irish god of love, resided in a palace near the river Boyne at Newgrange. Legend has it that his kisses of love manifested into the forms of four white doves whose songs, as well as his harp playing, sprung up in the hearts of young maidens. As you look at the doves in the image, see them swirling around, in your mind’s eye, and feel the love of Angus as they fill your heart with the healing of sounds from the celestial realms. This sound of the highest vibration is an offering to you. For this is a healing gift which transforms any darkness, that resides within, to that of the light-being that has been waiting to be uncovered, deep within your own subterranean chamber. The dark clouds that once traversed the ancient skies have now been transmuted and transformed into the four white doves of peace. The Shining Ones now radiate their light from below, as Angus does from above, thus illuminating the unvarnished truth, finally. If in or trials we take the time to listen to both sides, to imagine what it is to walk in another’s shoes, we have the opportunity to understand. There are some very confused, fearful people across the world, who feel marginalized, rejected and will do anything to feel valued, even kill themselves or others for an idea. We can ask ‘why’? We can as to have the light shed on our fears and blackest of places and together find a better resolution than terror, war and deprivation. We can hold those who thrive on this to account and tell them ‘no more’.

Journey. Find a peaceful place where you can use a shamanic hand drum or play a shamanic drumming cd (see website in appendix) and allow the beat to take you on a journey. Now use your senses as you see yourself sitting at dusk, around a brightly burning fire. You share this scene with the Dana’s people who would like tell you of their story. Here you will receive the answers as you sing with them the songs of old. Allow their tales to clear out any preconceptions or preconceived notions that have not served you well.  Listen well, dear one, as you stare into the fire. As you journey with the ancestors your very essence will be permeated with the truth of all that you wished to believe in, but didn’t dare. And the truth shall set you free, as you sing your soul back home.
